Julius Edward Lindsay Griffith (Canadian, 1912-1997)

Griffith, a native of Vancouver, BC, became interested in block printing and linocuts in the 1920's, moving in 1928 to the UK to study wood engraving, He returned to Canada following WWII and became an important graphic artist and wood engraver. Girffith is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and his works are in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada (including "Wolfe Landing"), the Canadian War Museum, the Imperial War Museum, London and the Art Gallery of Ontario among many other institutional collections. Similar dimension and period linocut prints by Griffiths have been priced as high as $1000.
