Georges Braque (1882-1963)
This is an authorized print produced by Mourlot Editions for the Galerie Maeght (embossed with the gallery seal on the lower left), numbered in pencil 209 of 300.
Georges Braque was a major 20th-century French painter known for his contributions to the Fauvism movement and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braque's work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso.
Braque's work often features the motif of the bird in flight which "provides both a poignant reflection on a life's work that concentrated on space and movement in space as well as the impending release of the spirit from its mortal bounds."
