Raoul Ubac (1910-1985), French
Original color lithograph from the pages of Derrière Le Miroire n° 142, published in 1964. Framed.
This lithograph is taken from Derrière le Miroir ("DLM"). DLM is a French art magazine created by the famous Maeght art gallery in Paris. The magazine was created in October 1946 (n°1) and published without interruption until 1982 (n°253). Its original articles and illustrations (mainly original color lithographs by the gallery artists) were famous at the time and many editions have become rare collectors' items.
Ubac was a Belgian painter, sculptor and photographer who lived in Paris from the 1930's when he moved to that city to work with the surrealist group active there at that time. His work appears in the collections of major museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA. His work is the subject of posthumous exhibitions by major galleries and appears regularly at auction
Provenance : acquired at auction by Bohaus Art.
