Charles Anthony Law (Canadian, 1916-1996)

Law's early passions were painting and sailing. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940, becoming an Official War Artist in 1944. Law’s works have been exhibited at many institutions, including the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, London’s National Gallery, the Royal Canadian Academy, and a retrospective exhibition in 1989 by the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. His works are in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Canada House (London, England), and the Canadian War Museum. His works appear regularly at auction and a work of a similar size sold for almost $3,000 in September 2020.
