Paul Rebeyrolle (1926-2005), French
Original color lithograph from the pages of Derrière Le Miroire n° 187, published in 1970. Framed.
This lithograph is taken from Derrière le Miroir ("DLM"). DLM is a French art magazine created by the famous Maeght art gallery in Paris. The magazine was created in October 1946 (n°1) and published without interruption until 1982 (n°253). Its original articles and illustrations (mainly original color lithographs by the gallery artists) were famous at the time and many editions have become rare collectors' items.
Paul Rebeyrolle was a French artist who largely dedicated his career to highlighting philosophical and political issues in expressive, highly charged, works. Whether figurative or abstract, his canvases are often violent, and full of rage. When not busy attracting the admiration and praise of philosophers such as Jean-Paul Sartre and Michel Foucault who considered him the most important artist of his generation, Rebeyrolle was to be found indulging in his lifelong love for fly fishing.
