Keith Thomson was born on a farm on the Canadian prairies and has devoted his artistic career to representing the beauty of that landscape. He is well known for his depictions of grain elevators. Those works, and indeed The Red Barn, are steeped in nostalgia for a way of life that is slowly being replaced by an increasingly modernized agricultural economy.
