Pricing, Provenance, and Condition
Information on Pricing
Bohaus Art acquires and sells art of different types: original oil paintings, linocuts, limited edition lithographs, drawings, etc. The price of the work typically reflects the medium and size of the work, as well as the accomplishments and reputation of the artist . A large one-of-kind oil painting will be significantly more expensive than a small lithograph printed in an edition of 2000. Bohaus Art researches auction records and gallery listings for similar works by our artists in order to set a fair price.
Provenance and Authenticity
Bohaus Art acquires the vast majority of the works it sells from reputable auction houses across Canada. As such, little is known about the history of a particular work before Bohaus Art acquired it. In some cases, gallery markings on the reverse of a work will provide a glimpse into provenance and history.
Bohaus Art does not have the means to verify the authenticity of a work or its history and provides no warranties in that regard. If you have questions or concerns about the authenticity of a work you have purchased from us, please contact us. We will take back the work and refund you. No questions asked.
Condition
Bohaus Art will do its best to note any significant condition issues in the description of a work. This does not include noting minor blemishes on a frame or reverse of a work. Some of our works are contemporary while some have some history behind them. The condition of works evolves over time depending on paper quality, materials, exposure to light and other environmental factors. If you have concerns, please contact us.
