A Pillow on the Grass
Kyu-Baik Hwang (1932-), Korean-American.
Two-colour mezzotint print. Signed and dated 1976 in pencil and numbered 60/75. Framed.
Kyu Baik Hwang (also known as K.B. Hwang) is a Korean-American artist who left Korea in 1968 to study art history and print-making in Paris. He relocated to New York in 1970 and worked primarily with intaglio print-making techniques for the next thirty years. His work is found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and The British Museum, among many other prestigious collections. His work appears often at auction.
Bohaus Art is drawn to this work by the contrast between the stark - even jarring- incongruity of a pillow in the grass and soothing gentleness of the lines and color pallet used by the artist.
Provenance : acquired at auction by Bohaus Art.
