Colour silkscreen on wood. Signed in plate. Framed. Slight crease to the matting lower left and slight humidity mark on the lower right of the matting. Hairline crack to wood veneer.
A.J. Casson was a member of the Canadian group of artists calle the "Group of Seven". He is best known for his depictions of Southern Ontario farms, landscapes and forests.
During the WWII, A.J. Casson and A.Y. Jackson worked with Sampson-Matthews Ltd., printers, to create limited reproductions of Group of Seven works held by the National Gallery of Canada. Sampson-Matthews continued their print collections following the war and for the following decades. These extremely high quality prints are sought after by collectors of Group of Seven works. This print is framed with the original Sampson Matthews matting.
Provenance: From the Family of Charles Matthews, by descent to present private collection, Canandaigua, N.Y. Acquired at auction by Bohaus Art.
