Kyu Baik Hwang (also known as K.B. Hwang) is a Korean American artist who left Korea in 1968 to study art history and print-making in Paris. He relocated to New York in 1970 and worked primarily with intaglio print-making techniques for the next thirty years. He returned to Korea in 2000 and took up painting once again. His work is found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, The British Museum in London, the Uffizi Museum in Italy, and the Museé d'Art Moderne, Paris, among many other prestigious collections. His work appears often at auction.
The gentle lines and colour tones of this word produce a calming serenity while the viewer considers the playful absurdity of the subject matter.
